Downshire Brass is delighted to be taking part in this symposium which explores our understanding of how musicians – professionals and amateurs – engage with ‘the local’. Rather than looking at location in terms of the origins of music (i.e., Irish Music), local musicking addresses the location of performance and the role of music in culture and society, transcending current debate around ‘music and identity’ as well as theories around ‘the local and the global’.
Downshire's performance at this event includes a workshop play-through of excerpts from the European Championships test piece Orígenes.
